Finest Recruits was born from real experience - the highs, the setbacks and the determination to build something better.
Before recruitment, our founder, Kelly Finley, built a successful career as a Global Move Specialist, supporting families and professionals relocating around the world. But after delivering one of her strongest months, she was unexpectedly made redundant just before Christmas, with two young children to support. What could have been a breaking point instead became the beginning of a completely new chapter.
That evening, after the shock had settled, she updated her CV and applied for anything she felt remotely qualified for. With only early‑career basic admin experience in recruitment, she thought, “How hard can it be?” She accepted the interview, was offered the job at interview, and started the next day.
What followed was a steep learning curve that tested her resilience from day one.
Every morning from 9–11am, she sat in the boardroom role‑playing objections, scripts and sales techniques, over and over again with the Director. It felt unnatural, uncomfortable and completely at odds with who she was. After months of trying to force a script that didn’t feel authentic, she made a decision that would define her entire career:
ditch the script and have honest, human conversations instead.
It worked.
In her first full year, she became the company’s top biller.
From telesales to surveyors, warehouse operatives to finance managers, she recruited for everything. But it was the Legal sector roles that truly sparked her passion.
Fast forward five years - the business went into liquidation - again. A pattern that she later found out had repeated for over 35 years. She was made redundant - without pay, and her boss openly planned to continue working with the clients she had spent years building.
That was the final straw.
She walked away with absolute clarity:
It was time to build something honest. Something transparent. Something better.
Legal recruitment is rarely straightforward - clients often come with highly specific requirements that make you wonder whether the person they’re describing even exists. One client recently summed it up perfectly after she filled a long‑standing vacancy they’d been struggling with:
“Thank you for finding our Private Client Lawyer. Would you like to have a go at finding another - needle in the haystack?”
And that’s exactly what she loves. The challenge. The chase. The hours, days or even weeks of searching. The moment when you finally find that perfect match - the candidate no one else could find, it brings a level of achievement and job satisfaction that’s impossible to replicate. That feeling is what sparked her love for Legal recruitment, and it’s why Finest Recruits continues to excel in this specialist area today.
Her passion for Property Management recruitment grew just as naturally. Property roles aren’t about “just finding someone local with a bit of property industry experience” - they require a very specific blend of technical knowledge, qualifications, communication skills and resilience. The right Property Manager or Block Manager can completely transform a development, a portfolio or a client relationship, and finding that person is rarely simple.
What she loves most is the challenge: the detailed briefs, the non‑negotiable requirements, the personalities that need to fit perfectly with demanding environments. Property Management recruitment is fast‑paced, complex and often unforgiving - but that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding. The satisfaction of finding the one candidate who can handle the workload, the residents, the legislation, the service charge demands and the pace of the role is immense.
